Hong Kong City Youth Choir 10th Annual Concert –
Rekindle the love for choral music
The Hong Kong City Youth Choir sparked off its musical journey in the summer of 2008. Coming from all walks of life, we are connected by our sheer passion for choral music. In this wonderful journey which has spanned a decade, we have shared countless touching and exciting moments because of music, and we feel proud every time audiences applaud after our performance. In this year's annual concert, you are welcome aboard the time machine and join us to recap the classic repertoire from our widely acclaimed concerts over the years. We will also present a series of popular movie theme songs and pop songs in a refreshing way. We look forward to your coming to share the joy of our 10th anniversary. Let’s rekindle the fond memories of choral music in the heartfelt singing voices!

The Hong Kong City Youth Choir (’HKCYC’) was established by renowned tenor Mr. Man Kin Ping in August 2008, with the vision of achieving a choir of high
- Delivered a seriesstandard that performs both contemporary and traditional pieces with unique styles. All members have received a certain extent of vocal training. HKCYC has performed in a wide array of occasions and partaken in various competitions:of
well recognised concerts annually, including ‘Different Songs in the World (2015)’and ‘The Sound of Religion – Past and present (2016)’
- In 2017, small-groups visited Japan and Australia to participate in several international choir festivals and performances
- In 2016, with the subsidy of the Art Development Fund, visited the Shanghai Conservatory of Music
for an exchange programme and organized a special concert with a choir in Shanghai
- In 2015, won a Gold and a Silver award in the small-group and mixed choirs categories
respectively in ‘The International Federation for Choral Music (IFCM) World Choral EXPO’ in Macau
Apart from performing in formal concerts, HKCYC is also invited by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department regularly to deliver outdoor performances to promote choral music to the community.
Artistic director and conductor Mr Man Kin Ping
Man studied Western opera and vocal music with renowned Prof. Tan Bingruo of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music in early years. He was later admitted to the Shanghai Normal University Music College, where he studied vocal music and taught at the school after graduation. Afterwards, he went to the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto to study vocal music and choral conducting. Man is currently engaged in singing, conducting, teaching and music creation. He is also the artistic director and conductor of the Inner Mongolia Youth Choir, and a visiting professor of the Shanghai Normal University Music College.
Guest Performers Plaisir Ensemble
Plaisir Ensemble was found by Mr. Man Kin Ping in 2005, members of which are all Mr. Man’s students. They are famed for their harmonious and expressive voices. Plaisir Ensemble always participates in international singing competitions and has attained bright result, such as the Gold Diploma, the Category Winner and the Overall Winner of Chamber Choirs. They have been invited to perform in the celebration concerts of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and 2010 Shanghai World Expo. They have also participated in many international music festivals around the globe, such as Canada, Korea and Sri Lanka.
