本地爵士組合Tjoe Quartet 由結他手Tjoe Man Cheung、鋼琴手Patrick Lui雷柏熹、低音結他手Wong Tak-Chung及鼓手Samuel Chan組成。

In this concert, jazz vocalist & songwriter Henk Kraaijeveld along with Tjoe Quartet will perform Henk’s original compositions from his newly released album “Passengers” and his favourite jazz tunes. Henk has been performing around Europe. In 2018, he is having his Asia tour in Beijing, Taipei and Hong Kong.

Tjoe Quartet – a jazz quartet led by Tjoe Man Cheung (guitar), along with Patrick Lui (keyboard), Wong Tak-Chung (bass), Samuel Chan (drums).

音樂家簡介Musicians’ Bio

Henk is a versatile jazz vocalist and songwriter from the Netherlands who brings together compelling music with strong lyrics, storytelling and surprising improvisations. His music is playful and consists of light-footed elements alternate with intense and vivacious grooves and harmonies.

Tjoe is a Hong Kong born and bred top musician. This Musicians Institute alumnus is a favoured sideman in the Pop scene, a talented Jazz & Blues guitarist, a proficient arranger and composer. Currently the official artist of Melancon, Tjoe is recognised by his creative approach, powerful soloing, unique improvisation and a splash of humour on stage. Tjoe is currently based in Hong Kong. After resuming to the local music scene, the top musician has already done over 50 gigs

Patrick Lui
Upon graduating from Berklee College of Music (USA), Patrick returned to his hometown Hong Kong and began his career as an
all-round musician and has enjoyed success in different aspects of the music industry. As a jazz musician Patrick appeared both as
leader and solo pianist in various jazz festivals such as
Hong Kong International Jazz Festival, Clockenflap, Beishan International Jazz Festival, Rainbow Bay Festival and Taichung Jazz Festival in which he won first place in the jazz piano competition. He has also shared the stage with top-notch jazz musicians including
Eugene Pao, Ted Lo, Blaine Whittaker, Sylvain Gagnon, Anthony Fernandes, Ray Vaughn Covington, Yoichi Murata and more.

Wong Tak-Chung
Wong Tak-Chung is currently a young jazz bassist, who has been playing for more than 10 years. Wong studied jazz bass with Tsang Tak-Hong who is one of the most famous and versatile bassists in Hong Kong. In 2007, after Wong was awarded the best bass player in a local youth music competition, he decided to turn his passion for music into a career and finally became a full-time musician.
Wong Tak-Chung is very experienced in jazz music performing with different musicians and groups. He has been playing with famous musicians such as Ted Lo, Wilson Lam, Andrew Gander, Orlando Bonzi,
Dulip Charith, Bob Mocarsky, Ng Cheuk Yin, Stephen Lam, Ray Wang, Joey Ou, Anthony Femandez e.t.c. He is now performing at Cali Cali (TST), Peel Fresco, Fringe Club, Manchester United Bar.

Samuel Chan
Samuel received a Bachelor Degree
at Hong Kong Institute of Education (HKIED), where he studied with renowned jazz pianist Ted Lo and graduated with an outstanding performing arts certificate. Samuel received a scholarship to study and later on graduated at the Collective School of Music, a famous music school in New York. He studied with drum masters including Peter Retzlaff, Ian Froman, Chris Coleman and Kendrick Scott, and has performed and made recordings with internationally renowned musicians Theo Hill, Sean Conly, Sebestian Noelle and Ole Mathisen.
